Bringing Supabase to Mobile – The Vision Behind Supadex
We’re excited to announce that Ironroot Holding, Inc. has acquired Supadex, a mobile companion app for developers working with Supabase, the open-source Firebase alternative.
Supadex provides a streamlined interface for accessing and managing your Supabase data directly from your iOS or Android device. Whether you’re monitoring real-time activity, querying tables, or testing edge functions, Supadex gives developers on the go access to their Supabase instances.
The acquisition represents our commitment to supporting tools that empower developers and enable the modern backend-as-a-service (BaaS) movement.
What is Supadex?
Supadex is a lightweight, mobile-friendly app that allows you to:
- Connect to your Supabase project securely
- View and interact with database tables
- Run queries and test edge functions
- Available for use on iOS or Android
Think of it as Postico or Prisma Studio, but in your pocket.
It’s currently available on the App Store and Google Play, and is actively used by indie hackers, startup teams, and freelance developers.
Why We Acquired Supadex
We’be watched the Supabase Ecosystem grow massively since 2020 and noticed a clear gap: Why can’t I quickly access my Supabase project from my phone?
Supadex solves this in a clean and elegant way, no bloated dashboards, no terminal required.
Here is what I loved about it:
- Niche yet growing audience: Supabase is backed by a strong open-source community with real traction
- Useful out of the box: Devs can connect and monitor their Supabase projects in seconds
- Cross-Platform Support: Built in React-Native using Expo and RevenueCat
- Awesome Technical Foundation: Secure API handling, thoughtful UX, and developer-centric focus
Our Plans for Supadex
We’re keeping the original vision intact – a lightweight, mobile-first Supabase companion – while working on a few improvements:
- Enhanced Authenication: We’d like to explore biometric unlock for faster, safer access
- Role-based views: Let teams restrict what non-admin users can see/do
- Realtime Usage stats: For tracking row inserts, updates and triggers
- Improved Error Handling
We’ll also be introducing feedback channels, including in-app feature requests, GitHub Integration, and exploring connecting to locally hosted Supabase instances in addition to Cloud based instances.
A Word to the Developer Community
To everyone who has used Supadex so far, thank you for supporting a dev tool built by and for the community.
We’re honored to continue developing it and welcome your ideas. If you want to request a feature or provide feedback, please reach email us at [email protected].
